Plans are worthless but planning is everything.
— Dwight Eisenhower

At OAM, we believe planning is everything.

Every decision, from claiming Social Security, to asset allocation, to spending, should be made within the framework of a comprehensive financial plan.

And that’s why the Eisenhower quote resonates with us so much.

It’s the act of planning that adds value to a plan and to a client’s life, not the plan itself.

Analyzing trade-offs, planning for contingencies, the what-ifs, are ongoing and fluid. There are unknown unknowns, both good and not so good, that could happen at any time. If you have built in the ability to make adjustments they will be much less likely to derail you.
